Nestled in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas, the peaks of Chopta – Chandrashila stand tall at the feet of 13,415. This moderate level 4 day trek can be taken all year round, Except for the snowy months of December & January, when this turns into a snow trek.

Starting at the base village of Sari, trekking to Chopta for the night & finally reaching the world’s highest Temple dedicated to Shiva, Tung Temple. The summit of Chandrashila lies another steep kilometer higher.

Trip Outline:
Day 1 – Rishikesh to Sari (180 km, Approx 6 hrs): After holding still in the vehicle for 5 – 6 hrs a good 2 hour walk winding along river Alaknanda & gradually going uphill gets you to the beautiful lake up at Deorital ( 2,440 m ). Overnight in Deorital.

Day 2 – Deorital to Chopta ( Approx 6 -7 hrs ) : Trek from Deorital through the forests & meadows. Crossing streams along the way to reach Chopta at 3000 m. Overnight at Chopta

Day 3 – Chopta – Tungnath – Chandrashila – Chopta: Its the day to scale higher, Start early morning towards Tungnath (3680m), located here is the highest temple in the Garhwal region dedicated to lord Shiva. Proceed  towards to Chandrashila ( 4130m ) for a 360’ view of mountains & more. Return to Chopta for the night.

 Day 4 – Chopta to Rishikesh: Drive back to Rishikesh from Chopta aprrox 7 hrs.
